Nursing home neglect claims require strong representation

Our post last week discussed malnutrition and how it can be spotted. Sadly, far too many elderly individuals fall victim to malnutrition, leaving them susceptible to pain and suffering, rapid weight loss, weakness, memory problems and even death. With so much at stake, it is imperative that those who believe their elderly loved one is malnourished should consider taking legal action if that loved one is in the care of another, like a nursing home.

Nursing home employees are tasked with keeping their residents healthy and safe. When these individuals fail to live up to the standard of care they have taken upon themselves and someone is injured as a result, those employees and the institution itself should be held accountable. One of the best ways to do this is to file a lawsuit. We at Ford Dean & Rotundo may be able to help people throughout the legal process, potentially giving them an opportunity to have their voices heard.

Winning a legal claim requires diligence, knowledge, negotiation skills and, sometimes, aggressive legal tactics. Without these elements, a lawsuit may fall flat, allowing errant professionals to walk away without paying for the harm they have caused. Our attorneys do not want to see wrongdoers walk away, and we certainly want people to obtain that to which they are entitled. Therefore, in eligible cases we do everything in our power to try to recover compensation on a person’s behalf in order to obtain a favorable outcome.

The choice of an attorney can be a difficult one. Those whose loved ones have been injured by nursing home neglect may want to consider several factors before choosing a lawyer, including experience and track record. However, in many instances, it is a good idea to speak with potential attorneys to get a feel for whom one thinks is best suited to represent the person’s legal interests.
