Florida LPNs and the nursing home supervisor role

Nursing homes play a vital role in Florida. When our elderly loved ones become incapable of caring for them and we are not in a position to care for them, they may be placed in a nursing home. It is hoped that these institutions will provide their residents with the attention and care they need and deserve. Far too often, though, innocent nursing home residents are subjected to neglect and abuse.

We passionately represent Florida victims of nursing home abuse

Back in July, we dedicated a post to talking about Florida nursing home abuse and the risk factors associated with it. Sadly, Florida nursing home abuse is a reality that leaves far too many of our elderly loved one's seriously injured and emotionally traumatized. Making these events even more tragic is the fact that, in many instances, they could have been prevented by diligent nursing home facilities and employees. These institutions and their workers should be dedicated to resident safety, but, for whatever reason, there are sometimes lapses that lead to heartbreaking consequences.

Florida Supreme Court considering duty and hospital negligence

There are many moving parts to a Florida medical malpractice case, and to succeed on such a claim, a victim must prove, by a preponderance of the evidence, certain elements. Amongst those elements is that the defendant owed the victim a duty of care. A duty of care certainly arises when a doctor takes on a patient, but exactly how far reaching is that duty?

Could surgery cameras reduce Florida hospital negligence?

Most Floridians have probably heard about recent police shootings across our country and how, in response, many police departments are considering implementing body cameras. Now, a similar thought process may be entering the medical field. A surgeon has recently created a device that syncs up a patient's physical data with audio and visual recordings of a surgery. Some are saying that Florida doctors and nurses will be able to learn from their mistakes by reviewing the video, similar to how football teams re-watch film from previous games.
