Failure to diagnose claimed against doctor, hospital in Fla birth

Medical errors often constitute medical malpractice. A failure to diagnose symptoms with a reasonable degree of medical care can cause lasting injuries, paralysis, or even unexpected death. This is especially true when dealing with birth injuries, and a recent Florida medical malpractice lawsuit evidences the severe consequences that can follow substandard care.

Investigation opened into nursing home abuse in Miami area

One would expect that assisted-living facilities would abide by only the strictest of standards, as the clientele they serve, the elderly, are often in need of medical help. Unfortunately, such expectations are not always fulfilled and some Florida residents may be shocked to hear that prosecutors have begun an investigation into such facilities in the Miami area. The investigation comes after a local newspaper published a series of reports focusing on the ever growing problem of nursing home abuse and neglect.

Medical malpractice: Discount plastic surgery a breeding ground

A Florida doctor who was performing discount plastic surgery lost his right to perform surgery after two of his patients died on the operating table. Both patients were to have received liposuction procedures. The first surgery was on February 13, 2010. The patient died the following day. Then again, earlier this summer a second patient died in his office during a liposuction as well, when she went into cardiac arrest. It has been said the doctor was not properly trained in anesthesia or its side effects, and did not have anyone present who was qualified, which are violations of Florida law as well as grounds for medical malpractice claims.

Is medical malpractice just another cost of the war?

The Iraq war has cost the United States billions of dollars, but not all costs are considered when the war budgets get tallied. One cost experienced by many is the emotional cost of the effects of war on our veterans, a cost that is leading many to file medical malpractice suits. Many American soldiers have sacrificed their life for our nation. However, some lost heroes seldom remembered take their own lives upon returning home. Such is the sad story of a soldier's widow, now residing in Florida and seeking compensation over what she believes was the preventable suicide of her husband.
